Testing Testing Testing
I got the wonderful opportunity to test a pattern for That*Darn*Kat. It’s a great rounded top pattern. She is aiming to release the pattern some time next week. It was quick and simple. Just perfect. I’ll be offering one of these cute tops at my HC Shoppe at the end of this month.

Some Things I Have Learned
So after a nice round of broken machines, I *think* everything is fixed now. I have learned ALOT during this last week regarding care and maintenance of machines.
So, here is everything I learned the expensive, oh did I say that, I meant HARD way!
* Use the same needles in your serger. Don’t mix brands! Even if you happen to own or were gifted other brand needles, do not put them into your machine. (dang singer and organ mix)
* Change your needles every 8hrs. Every 8 no matter what!
* Even if your machine manual says to use a certain needle check with either your shop or here SM to see what to use.
If you fail to do these things you will end up spending alot of money fixing your timing and you’ll nick up your loopers, yes both of them.
Next, (didn’t I say I learned alot)…
* Industrial machines are NOT home machines.
* Get a magnifying glass to work on them.
* If you get your husband to help you “repair” your machine, be prepared to have to assist (alot). lol
* Do not leave to go to, say, a grocery store, or you might return to find your machine was taken apart more then needed (why do men do that?) and now it doesn’t make anything resembling a stitch.
(really though he did a good job, I think it might even be fixed now)
* When trying to fix skipped stitches on a industrial, try all you would with a home machine, but then you’d better get a manual. Which is awesome, btw. You wouldn’t believe the information in there.
* Tiny adjustments make a HUGE difference. And there are lot of adjustments you can make.
Luckily, I didn’t have to do anything to my Bernina (knocks on wood) other then normal yearly service. I really felt like a dope when I hurt my serger. But then my c/s machine wasn’t working and I was just about feed up! I ruined a pair of shorts for DS trying to get the c/s fixed.
Oh and lastly, I learned that when your newborn starts to sleep though the night you feel so much better!!! I know she’s my fourth, but you really do forget.
(sorry for the lack of photos. But I have been wanting to blog for over a month now and just wanted photos, so no photos = new post. At least for now.)

So Fall is coming, with winter soon to follow. So I am beginning to start my SWAP (sewing with a plan). This will be my first season trying a SWAP. And I’ve got to be honest, I LOVE the planning of it all. But I am a bit concerned that I’m not going to find a good middle ground between making too little and planning too much. Does that make sense? So far I have come up with this as my plan. I welcome any comments on it.
For my DD:
2 pair of pants
2 dresses
4 tee shirts
2 tops
For DS:
4 pair of pants
2 button shirts
5 tees
And of course I have two boys, though one of the them is only in 2T. Besides planning the SWAP, I’ve been making hats. I’d done my DDs. It was done on the Knifty Knitter. I still think I should have used a more bulky yarn, but it turned out nice. And she LIKES it!
So now I’m on to my sons. But I need some size 10 circs for it. Maybe next week after my block of the month.

So I have graduated into some Men’s wear. Now this is not a pair of slacks or a dress jacket, but it’s a start. I have this dream of wanting to do women’s wear. Someday I hope to have the skills to create anything I desire. Someday, hopefully soon.
I haven’t been around here much lately. I had a post part of the way complete for my Madaline’s 4th Angel Day, but for whatever reason I could not complete it. I have been all together too tired lately for much of anything except movies and a lot of couch time.
So how could I also forget. I have opened my own Hyena Cart shop. The grand opening was June 27th, no surprise on the date of that.

So here I am back to the blog. I haven’t been around much. I have become so busy and keeping up is getting very difficult. I am busy with HyenaCart. I am opening my own shop there on the 27th. I am very excited about it. I even have some things in progress for the opening! I am also a bit nervous about it.
I did a cute little sundress tonight, but it still needs the rolled hem. But I think I might have a problem with my screw on my serger. I believe it has been striped. So I will have to figure out something for that to finish the hem. Maybe DH can help me.
I have finally sewn up some of my favorite fabrics. Baby Nay Jade! So beautiful! Here’s a photo of a lounge set I did for a customer.
Ah love!
I so adore some of Baby Nay. I have some Zen Garden as well. That just might be my all time favorite.
