A little Post
I swear I have been sewing. But I must say I have been feeling a bit lack luster about posting. Not that I don’t want to, but somedays it feels like alot of work. Also I must say that I have been a bit concerned ever since I saw what happened over at Little Birds. I have heard stories of photos being stolen before. It’s actually why I have never used any photos of my kids ever and why I have stopped using their names also. I was just becoming a bit too comfortable again when this happened. I was actually thinking maybe I’d start using modeling photos of my kids with the clothing I make, but I will continue to cut their heads off. I wonder how this will look when I go to sell my items. I hope it doesn’t make a difference, but I think it will.
Anyway, here’s the picts of a few WIP’s.
Velour pants for the baby DS…
A another pair of pants for the youngest DS…
And a shirt for the oldest DS…
I need to get going on some pants & shirts for my DD. I have been getting irritated lately with all the switching that occurs when you don’t have a serger. Changing the feet, the thread, the needle…. ARGH! I could pull my hair out. I am wishing and hoping that maybe just maybe I’ll get a serger for my birthday next week. I don’t think it will happen, but a girl can dream right.

I have completed a pair of jammies for DD. Cute little things even though there were problems. No problems with the construction, but rather the pattern itself. I used Kwik Sew for Toddlers (book) to make both the pants and top. Problem is that shirt is big (remember next time to size down) and the width of the ribbing is HUGE. And I really mean huge. It reminds me of a sweatshirt for an adult.

I’m sorry if this is a bit washed out. It seems fine on my computer sometimes, but not others. I have two more jammie bottoms to make tops for, but no fabric yet for them. Maybe in another week or two.

And some pants for DD for winter. A bit big in length, but otherwise okay. I love the gathering at the hem.
Sunday is my local Race for the Cure. DD and I are going to run/walk in it. It’s 5k, but I don’t know how much of that I can actually run. I got my new running shoes from the brand new Kohls that just opened up. I hope I can break them in enough before Sunday.

Or bribed. DD was not happy about me interupting her Sesame Street to have this put on. I had to give in and promise a sucker to her. I had completed this outfit last week, but just today uploaded the photos to photobucket. I love, no wait, adore this costume. So pretty. The pictures do not do it justice.
Here’s the front, or almost side. I used bridal satin for the overcoat and under dress.

And the back now. BTW, I didn’t make the wings. Too much trouble in my book.

Here’s the outfit without the wings in the way.

This costume was fairly easy to create. I didn’t find sewing the satin difficult. I love the trim at the bottom of the overcoat.
I don’t know why but lately things here are a bit off. You ever have times like that? Seems like you can’t get anything done and it’s so frustrating since you work all day. I am a SAHM, so I rarely sit down. And even when working all day it still looks terrible in my house. Oh and the laundry. How is there so much of it? I think it mates at night.
In exciting news… I am finally going to have a sewing area. It’s not ready for the pictures yet. But it’s coming along. Dh and I have decided that while I would like to have a sewing room in the basement, it’s not possible at this time. Our basement is unfinished and there are no plugs or lights (well there are, but not enough). So I am moving all my sewing and craft stuff up to our den. It’s a 10.5′ x 10.5′ room. I can’t wait.

The jeans have been finished (almost) for a few days now. They are completely sewn up, but I have yet to give them the worn out look. I have done a few tests with fabric paint, but I think I’m going to try some sandpaper.

I love all the topstitching. It’s not red like it looks in the picture, but more of tan-ish color. I didn’t sew on the belt loops as the pattern called for. I figure I can add those later if I wish.

I did add the fake front fly. And if I were to do it again, I would do it differently. I just stitched the general shape of a fly. I think actually putting in a fake fly is much better. Oh well, at least I learned something.

In other news, fall has or is arriving here in the midwest. All the gardens are being harvested, the weather is cooling and school has started. I saw, what I’m sure, is my last veggie stand of the summer today. :( I am always saddened to see them go. I look forward each year to the arrival of the stands, for it brings corn. Not just any corn either, but the most delicious corn ever! And now all the summery goodness is gone for this year. And I must go back to frozen or canned.

I don’t know what you all think of this above photo. But I think Wrights needs to update that little photo there. I found it extremely funny that I went into the store to find some trim and this here photo was staring up at me. It must be 20+ years old. In fact I think I remember this photo being in my mom’s sewing supplies. And let’s just say that she only used her supplies every few years. Now I should also say that I found their product to be excellent. There are no flaws there, but come on… update your packaging.
