Party Time

December 19th, 2006

Today is the baby’s First Birthday Party.  As a result of the invasion of the flu this weekend the babe’s party had to be rescheduled.   Everyone is finally feeling much better, only my girl is still having some residual “effects”.   So on to the party.  I was happy to find a day that would work for all.  This year I have really felt the effects of a December birthday with the planning and invitations of this party.  Everyone is so busy.  And my heart aches for my sweet son.  I feel he is neglected a bit.  I wonder if it is due to his December 22nd birthday or if it is since he is number 3.

The decorations above were made by my oldest son and myself this morning.  He is just learning to write and I find his letters are adorable.

Scraps

Scraps

I’ve been making a pair of Otto jeans for DS. He loves to be in the middle of all the action. I offered him a piece, one single piece of scrap. Which he enjoyed making into a “bat”. Then he proceeded to get the other scraps out of the trash (yuck!). Luckily they were clean trash as far as I could tell. He loved taping them into things, a worm, a kite, and others. So creative, my little artist.

But as for the jeans, I read a review of them on pattern review . Seems easy enough. Again something I have never tried. I have done boxer shorts and pj’s. Hopefully these go well. Here’s all the pieces cut out and ready to sew. The scraps of paper on them are the pattern piece numbers (I just wanted to make sure I kept them straight, a bit anal, I know).

Making Crayons

Making Crayons

I found the most interesting post about making crayons. Now this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. So when looking for something to do with my kiddos I often check this site. I found on that day (Tuesday) there was a link to here. Well the kids and I have been saving crayon bits for awhile now in hopes of making some new crayons from the old. It was a wonderful project to do. My preschooler was wonderful at pulling off the paper (small hands can do wonderful small work). But I will say this, those crayon cookies are huge. I found I needed to cut them to get them small enough to use.
