I love to Screen Print!

September 9th, 2009

I love screen printing.  I purchased a Yudu about a month ago and have used it tons since I brought it home.  I love that I feel like I can finally make things for my older kids that are “school worthy.”     Here’s a few things I made that I love.

Zip Hoodie

My son always wants to know if what I make is for him.  Well this time it was!  I made this hoodie complete with zip.   I am very proud of it.

Happenings Around Here

May 26th, 2009

So I guess it’s been a month since my last post.  Time sure flew.  May was so busy.  I am very glad that school is over now and I don’t have to run around like I have been doing for the last month.  Of course that also means now that I have a kindergartener (sob) and a second grader.  When did all that happen??!!    I have been sewing some, though I haven’t had much time to do lots.  I am particiapting in a S.W.A.P. contest at Sewing Mamas.  I designed the SWAP for Ellie.  I’ll am still working on the storyboard, so I will show that to you once it’s complete.  I am quite nervous that I will not finish all the garments in time.  But for me the ultimate goal of this is to sew for my child, something I don’t often have time for.

In other news, a few weeks ago I dropped my camera.  It seemed fine when I picked it up and used it.  For several weeks it was fine.  Until Ellie’s gradation from preschool.  I wanted to change the lens and that began the trouble.  I guess during that fall, the lens that I had on the camera broke (and it was my fav lens too).  Jacob finally got the lens off the camera body for me, but now I stuck using the lens kit.  At least the camera body is working.

Anyway, what’s a blog without picts, so here are some of the recent items I’ve done.

We Can Finally Talk About It

April 22nd, 2009

Easter that is. :)   What did you think I meant? lol

So Easter… this year I wanted to make the girls dresses, matchy-matchy almost.  So after making the tiered dress for Artiste’s birthday I wanted to make that for Easter instead of thehandmadedress.net pattern.  You will just see how that turned out.  After finishing  the first tiered dress, which gave me all kinds of trouble, I couldn’t wait to try it on my little Evie.  On it went.  Now let’s just say it was a little revealing on top and she need a adjustment.  Happily I went on, put the pants on her so I could see the whole outfit together.  Ah they are cute I think (although they will NOT go over her CD and she will have to wear a sposie for Easter).  No worries.  I turn to DH who takes one look and says he hates it.  To quote later “the girls looked clownish”.  I am not kidding, this was the day before Easter.  I completely lost it.  I was quite angry.  I decide I am going to ahead with my plan even he is not into the “boutique style”.  I make my other DD’s dress.  Ugh, the pants are a bit long.  She would not, flat out refused, to let me try anything on her.   Oh well, I think it’s just one day.  I put the girls in their dresses/pants, boys all dressed up, DH and I ready to go.  Wait I want a photo of the kids.  I grab the camera.  I take picts, they look great on the viewfinder.  A second after taking the last photo my battery dies.   Wonderful, if nothing I have these pictures.  And we are off.  The rest of the day was good and the kids had lots of fun.  Now in hindsight I can say I wish I had done the handmade dress like I had originally intended.  While the dress was adorable, I am in the midwest and boutique clothing isn’t really seen here much.  Oh and the highlight, those pictures I took all turned out black.  I have none of them altogether.  Ah well, and so it goes….

I only have this photo of the two outfits side-by-side.

Twirl Skirts and Playdresses

April 11th, 2009

Here are two recent customs I did.  One is a triple tiered skirt.  Super cute with extra twirl power!  I love this skirt despite it’s attempts to thort my sewing it. Seriously, I had to do this skirt 2x.  It’s always the easy projects (or should be easy) that cause me the most trouble.  Isn’t it like that in life too? LOL

Triple Tiered Skirt with Yoga Waist

(does anyone think this pic is washed out?  i’m still learning to use the speedlite.)

And now a playdress just perfect for summery spring days.
